Scholar in pursuit of inclusive and equal education opportunities in Maldives

Scholar Muna Adam from Maldives is studying a Master of Educational Leadership at Flinders University with the support of an Australia Awards Scholarship. In the video below, she discusses her Scholarship journey in Australia.

Muna aspires to become a leader in Maldives who can instigate positive change in the youth education system, advocating for inclusivity and equal opportunities for all students. She recognises the importance of continual growth and sees her studies as an opportunity to enhance her theoretical knowledge and contribute to the development of Maldives upon her return.

Muna applied for an Australia Awards Scholarship not only to access a world-class education but also to establish valuable connections and networks. She has been an active participant in scholar engagement activities, including the 2023 Scholars Forum organised by Australia Awards in Canberra.

The Australia Awards Scholarship’s support for Muna’s family to travel with her to Australia was important to her, as she didn’t want to be separated from her son during her studies.

Muna is from a southern atoll of Maldives, and hopes to see more Scholarship recipients from other regions outside of the capital, and believes that collective efforts can bring significant changes to both the education system and the overall development of the region.
